PCOS Blog Post: Being Proud of Your Life!
December 6, 2009Well, I hope everyone that reads my blog in the States enjoyed Thanksgiving! Sorry, I haven't posted recently, but with the holidays upon us I find myself busier than usual. I can not emphasis enough to you the importance I place on being happy in your life. With your job, with your personal life, and with yourself about where you have been and where you are going. Emotions, especially stress, play such a large role in PCOS that you can not afford to risk letting unnecessary emotions build up inside you. It only makes matters worse. I use to be one to hold everything inside; I wouldn't share my feelings or my thoughts with anyone. If I was sad, disappointed, happy I had a hard time letting people know that. I didn't like sharing or opening up to others. I trusted myself and no one else. You can't live like that, because sooner or later it will catch up with you. Unfortunately, your health will pay the price. Find who and what makes you happy; take that opportunity even if your scared. Some of my best choices I've made in my adult life have been from just jumping in feet first and figuring it out later. Out of university I had jobs that I did very well with co-workers that weren't ideal. At the end of the day, I had no energy left for myself, it literally sucked the life out of me. Today, I'm an elementary school teacher it's one of the best jobs in the world. Being around children all day listening to them laugh and watching them learn and grow is priceless. Now, leaving school and coming home I'm not worn out. Honestly, I don't even dread Mondays. I've accepted the life I have created for myself, but not because I've settled for the fact that I have PCOS. I've worked hard to lose weight, to maintain a healthy lifestyle by making smart choices. I've made permanent changes where necessary and that's the life I am proud to call my own. As you approach the New Year, it's the perfect time for a fresh start. Pick three aspects of your life that you really want to change; start mapping out a plan. Simply stating you want to lose fifteen pounds isn't realistic. Rather your goal should be I will eat more fruits and vegetables and exercise for 45 minutes five times a week. Whatever, goals you choose to set make sure they are challenging and realistic. Look at the place you are in today and the people that are in your life, appreciate it! Everyday, I smile because of the strong and confident woman I have become with PCOS. I know that you can too!
