PCOS Blog Post: Giving Thanks!

November 25, 2009

As you prepare for Thanksgiving, I realize that for some it isn't always easy to look beyond all the negative aspects of PCOS. I know first hand PCOS isn't always easy, that it leads to questions that leave you feeling why did this happen to me. Take a moment as we approach the Thanksgiving Holiday and think of all the aspects of your life that bring you joy and happiness. Your loving family, great friends, that your moving in the right direction towards beating PCOS. So, many positives have come out of my journey through PCOS. I use to always think why has this happened to me? Fortunately, today I do not think that. I wouldn't change the road I have taken. I've learned from each and every obstacle in my path. I am thankful, that I am a more open and compassionate person because of all the challenges I have went through.

Before being diagnosed with PCOS I didn't enjoy life's small moments, I took them for granted or never realized the joy in having a cup of tea while reading a book or simply just relaxing. I was healthy then, but am definitely healthier now. I am thankful to be able to share my successes and failures with women such as yourselves, so you too can lead a healthier life. Most importantly, I am thankful for the support and encouragement of my parents through some very trying times I wouldn't be in the healthy place I am today without their unconditional support.

I am sure as you read this, you have thought of countless things you are thankful for. Above my computer I have a list of three things I am thankful for, it serves as my everyday reminded and little encouragement when I need a boost that I have a great life because of all the hard work I have put into getting my life back. I know that you can too! Regardless, if your thankful for finally being diagnosed with PCOS (at least you know where to start) or losing ten pounds, it's a starting point. My list continuously changes as I reach new milestones; I update it!

Since, tomorrow is Thanksgiving, please make sure to thank yourself for where you are today! Also, travel safely.
