PCOS Blog Post: Meal Time
November 8, 2009The food you put into your body has a significant impact on your overall wellbeing. If its filled with valuable nutrients it's helpful to either maintain your optimal health or help your body reach it. By cooking food yourself, you are aware of all the ingredients in it. Food that you don't cook can have many hidden ingredients which can be unhealthy. If you're the cook you control the ingredients. Make sure you don't cook with preservatives, additives, hydrogenated oil, and many others. This will help build a healthy foundation to optimal health! This brings me to the importance of a healthy lunch. I know that we are all very busy. Getting ready in the morning lunch is probably the last thing you have time to think about. It's important that it's a little priority, which can be effortless if you plan ahead. So, to make my life easier and my mornings less hectic I prepare several go-to lunches days in advance. I normally have leftovers from dinner as an option. I always have soup frozen in individual servings, which make an easy go-to lunch or dinner if I'm pressed for time. I believe in eating two or three healthy snacks a day between meals. So, I always have those on hand. Some snacks I enjoy are hummus with celery or carrots, walnuts or almonds, an apple with peanut butter, cherry tomatoes, a few slices of cheese. My snacks are always healthy with a little bit of protein. Eating healthy meals are so important. You feel better when your fueling your body with vital nutrients. Packing your lunch instead of eating out during the work week also saves you a lot of money. It's really a win-win situation. So, stock your fridge and pantry with healthy choices!
