Can Fertility Drugs Help You Conceive?

Fertility drugs, such as Clomiphene, Gonadotropins, and Bromocriptine help to promote ovulation As a failure to get pregnant is primarily caused by a woman not ovulating regularly. Without ovulation the opportunity does not exists for an egg to be fertilized. However, in women with PCOS there can be many underlying issues that could make conceiving more difficult, than just failure to ovulate.

Taking drugs to promote ovulation increases the likelihood of multiples, which could mean more complications during pregnancy, miscarriage, or premature labor. Fertility drugs should be an absolute last option while trying to conceive. Have you seen the list of side effects associated with those drugs?

I am woman. I understand the desire for children. I love being around children and one day I hope that I will have a healthy baby. It doesn't consume me. It use to be all I thought about, but I realized I wasn't living my life. Instead, I was worrying about my future, that isn't a way to live. I know I say this continuously; focus on the changes you can make. By decreasing your PCOS symptoms your increasing your fertility.

I'll be honest, I will probably never try fertility drugs to conceive. I don't want to put my body through that, after all I only have one body; its already been put through a lot. My confidence in my decision, is I know there are better alternatives and options. I believe I'll conceive naturally with the assistance of an acupuncturist, naturopath, or herbalist. Currently, to keep my hormone levels normal I eat healthy, exercise, and go to acupuncture. That's my investment in my future fertility.

I look back at all the time I have wasted worrying and sitting in doctor's office trying more prescription drugs. None of those worked for me, so it's naive to think fertility drugs would be any different. I'm not putting my life and happiness in the hands of physicians, but rather in myself.

I realize having a child is the ultimate in happiness, that you've dreamed of, that you've planned for, and that you're waiting for; but alternatives do exist.

Is the cost really worth it? I don't mean simply the money you'll pay for the prescriptions, ultrasounds, and office visits. Rather, is your happiness, is your life worth putting your body through something that isn't natural. Typically, of those who ovulate with the help of drugs, which is anywhere from 60% to 80%, only half of those women conceive.

Really ask yourself have you done everything your possibly could? Have you tried acupuncture? What about herbs? Are you a healthy weight and BMI? Is your diet healthy?
